Layout
Antidote is an owners-version of the popular three cabin SW1160. This layout effectively makes the port hull an ‘owners’ area with owner’s sleeping cabin, luxury sized bathroom and on-board office and comms area.
Owner’s cabin The owner’s sleeping cabin has full head room and sports an “island” style Queen-sized bed. The cabin has numerous storage compartments for clothes and linen, including a large hanging locker forward for bulky items. The cabin is bright and well ventilated with 2 overhead hatches with mosquito screens and views out through double windows in the port hull. Reading lights are built in above each side of the bed along with an electric Caframo fan.

Owner’s bathroom The owner’s luxurious bathroom is just a few steps away to aft. It includes a large, full-height shower stall with glass door, sink and vanity and an electric toilet connected to a 130L holding tank. Under sink storage is ample for all your bathroom supply needs.
On-board office/nav station Connecting the sleeping cabin and bathroom is a walk through area and nav station; Antidote’s control centre. The nav station has a top-opening desk and swing out stool, a large overhead glass-door book case and is well lit from above. Antidote’s 12V DC Switch Panel is located to the left, along with the inverter controls, fuel and water tank level meters, circuit breaker, engine alarms and battery switches. The Ericsson internet router has also been installed here.
A set of four cupboards line the outside of the port walkway and, combined with two large storage cupboards to the left of the nav station, provide ample storage for boat linen, spare parts, tools and maintenance products along with rolled charts, clears and covers. All these items are included in the sale of Antidote including two sets of linen per bed and towels for eight people.
Starboard hull
A further two double sleeping cabins are included in the starboard hull together with the large galley and guest bathroom. This clever layout provides very comfortable accommodation for six people with plenty of room to move around inside.
Forward guest cabin The forward guest cabin has a queen-sized bed with twin reading lights and fan. The over bed hatch provides excellent ventilation and the cabin has all the cupboard and storage space a guest could want. The guest bathroom lies forward with electric toilet and holding tank, shower, sink and vanity.
Galley Antidote’s galley is a chef’s dream featuring generous working space and a comfortable open layout. A large galley window and two outward opening hatches provide excellent views, ventilation and natural light. A clever cathedral ceiling design ensures the chef is in close contact with the saloon so no one misses out on the conversation when dinner is being prepared.
Extensive Polystone bench tops cover large storage cupboards for pots/pans and enough dry food supplies for a month’s cruise. A cleverly designed, glass-fronted cupboard stores crockery for up to twelve people.
Antidote is fitted with a Vitrifrigo 130L front opening marine fridge and a two compartment ICEER 60L electric eutectic freezer providing sufficient perishable food storage for a couple cruising for two to four weeks. The galley has two stainless steel sinks with hot and cold water, filtered water and a salt water outlet for rinsing dishes. Antidote’s fresh water tank is located under the saloon and holds 700L. Hot water is produced electrically when on shore power or from engine heat when at sea. The 40L hot water system is located in the port engine compartment. Antidote is fitted with a SMEX three burner gas stove and oven. Gas is supplied from two 4.5kg galvanised bottles stored in a dedicated box housed in the large locker immediately in front of the mast. Each gas cylinder lasts approximately 4-5 weeks of normal use.
These cylinders also supply gas to the Cookout stainless steel gas barbeque located in the cockpit. The barbeque has its own in-line on/off valve. A gas solenoid switch is located in the galley to the left of the fridge and is switched off when gas appliances are not is use. Antidote comes complete with all the galley equipment required to cook and serve up to 12 people. This includes a full set of Analon cookware, a set of 12 unbreakable Corelle plates and bowels, quality stainless steel cutlery, and a complete range of cooking equipment.
Rear guest cabin The second guest cabin is located at the stern of the starboard hull and includes double bed, hanging and cupboard space, window and hatch, reading lights and fan.
Saloon The large central saloon surrounded by six large panoramic windows separates the hulls giving the saloon a bright and airy feel with great visibility. Two large, forward facing hatches provide excellent air flow throughout the saloon and an open-air view of everything forward. The saloon is fitted out with a large, U-shaped eight person lounge around an adjustable table that functions as a dining or buffet table or can be lowered to form a fourth double bed for extra guests or for use as a day-bed when under sail.
Antidote comes with attachable shade cloth screens for all saloon windows soften the summer glare and provide greater privacy while moored. With the tri-fold doors open, the saloon becomes a very comfortable sitting area while sailing, being protected from the wind but open to the cockpit and world outside.

Tri-fold doors The saloon is separated from the cockpit by Seawind’s innovative tri-folding lifting doors. The tri-folding doors can be closed during inclement weather or when in a marina keeping the saloon snug and dry. But when you’re out sailing and wanting open space, the doors simply fold together and are winched up into the targa roof, all at the press of a button. This gives the SW1160 a combined indoor/outdoor living and entertaining area with the space you would expect on a 45 footer!
Cockpit The large covered cockpit at the rear is fitted out with twin helm stations, double helm chair, rear upholstered bench seating and very practical stainless BBQ. Twin transom steps lead down to the water with a fresh hot and cold water deck shower located at the port transom. The cockpit floor is covered with blue, non-skid rubber matting and is self-draining. Davits extend out from the targa supporting two 250W solar panels, the GPS antenna, wind generator and the Aurora ReefRider CL310 RIB dinghy. An additional two Sunman eArc 215W Flexible Solar Panels on top of the cockpit shades give a total of 930W solar input.
Antidote comes with strong plastic clears that can be attached to protect each helm station. The double helm chair at the port helm provide excellent visibility of the sails and areas forward with all instruments, winches and controls at your fingertips. The helm seat has a reversing backrest to face guests on the rear bench seats and provides a comfortable position to sit while trolling a line behind when underway!
Fore deck Three non-skid steps lead up to wide walkways on each side of the saloon leading to the fore deck. The foredeck is open and uncluttered, with twin trampolines, access to the anchor locker and windlass, three large storage bins and pressurized fresh and salt water deck/anchor wash outlets.
Antidote comes with a Sarca Excel 20kg main anchor on 60m of 8mm galvanized chain and a 35lb CQR secondary anchor on 10m of chain and 50m of nylon rope. Antidote is fitted with a Muir Cougar HRV1200 Electric Winch with up and down controls operated from the helm. An additional electric up foot control can be operated from the front deck and down with manual clutch. A nylon bridle is fitted to the bows to reduce swing at anchor and to act as an anchor snub. Steps lead up onto the saloon and cockpit roof for easy access to the entire length of the boom, GPS antenna and solar panels. Life rails completely surround the vessel for security.
Sail trim and performance Antidote is a fast cruising catamaran ideally suited to near and offshore cruising. Her unique five-module construction and resin infusion technology with mini keels has resulted in a light but “stiff” sailing cat. This means that Antidote sails extremely well in both light and strong wind conditions. Antidote comes rigged with a 57m² Barracouta fully battened main, two self-tacking 22m² Barracouta jibs, a 38.2m² Barracouta Hydronet Furling Genoa, and an asymmetrical spinnaker.
All sheets and halyards lead back to the cockpit for safe, single-handed, all-weather sail control. The main sail halyard is raised by a Harken ST46 electric winch which can also be used for trimming the main sheet once the main is up. The main comes with two reefing points with all reefing lines leading back to the helm for quick and safe reefing. The main traveller is ideally located on top of the Targa below the end of the boom and is simply adjusted by a winch located on the port side of the Targa.
The self-tacking jib makes single-handed sailing a breeze. The sheets are attached to the jib via a traveller on the foredeck in front of the saloon allowing the jib to tack freely as the boat passes through the wind. The jib comes on a Profurl roller furler with both the furler line and jib sheet coming back to a Harken ST46 winch in the cockpit for easy control. The spinnaker comes in a sock with the halyard and all sheets in place. Two additional Harken ST40 winches are available for trimming the spinnaker and other jobs.
With jib and main set, Antidote will sail at 4 to 5kts in light breezes as low as 6-8kts apparent. On a beam reach and with breezes of 10kts apparent, Antidote will hold 7kts and with 15kts of breeze will pass 8kts. Controlled sailing speeds in excess of 9kts can be maintained in winds over 18kts. Antidote points well for a sailing catamaran, holding good speed as close as 40 degrees off the wind. The self-tacking jib makes tacking a breeze for single-handed sailing and the helm and cockpit are well protected from spray and wind when beating to windward while the mini keels minimise sideways crabbing.
Antidote is a delight to sail down wind, either on a broad reach or set wing-to-wing on a dead run – the most common sailing angles when going north during the trade wind season. When sailing downwind in lighter airs, the spinnaker can be raised in its sock for easy launch and retrieval. Very enjoyable spinnaker runs can be had in following breezes up to 15kts, either with or without the main in place.
Power Antidote is powered by two 29 hp Yanmar 3YM30C diesel motors with Saildrive legs fitted with Gori 3 blade folding propellers. These power trains have been professionally serviced and maintained from new and provide an ideal combination of reliability, fuel efficiency, power and speed. Using engine power, Antidote has a cruising speed of 7-8kts at 2400rpm (using 2L per hour) with a maximum speed of around 9kts, depending on sea state. Two 160L diesel fuel tanks are located under the floor in each hull giving Antidote a motor cruising range of up to 800nm.
Each motor has an independently regulated 80A Alternator directly connected to the 700 CCA Start Battery. These keep the Start Battery fully charged and then charge the four AH Aatlas lithium house batteries, giving Antidote 560Ah of battery capacity. Extended periods of motoring will ensure Antidote’s house batteries are fully charged. The 4 house batteries are currently 3 years old. Antidote comes with two 250W BP Solar panels and two Sunman eArc 215W Flexible Solar Panels on top of the cockpit shades give a total of 930W solar input. connected to the house battery bank through three independent MPPT solar panel voltage regulators.
Antidote is also fitted with a Victron 3000V/A 240V shore charger/12V inverter, that provides 240V power to outlets located in the galley, saloon and nav station areas, either directly from shore power or via the inverter from the 12V house battery bank when at sea. The Victron also regulates 240V shore power to safely charge the house batteries when in a marina.
Communications Internet on Antidote is provided via an Telstra Cel-Fi Go signal booster connected to RFI 7.5 dBi Antenna mount on spreader (2021) and a Robustel R2000 Dual SIM Cellular VPN Router (2021). The height of the antenna ensures that Antidote receives almost uninterrupted Next G broadband reception for the entire Queensland coast, providing all email and internet services required. We have received good internet coverage from difficult locations such as Lady Musgrave lagoon, Broad Sound and Watson’s Bay on Lizard Island.
Antidote also comes equipped with an Icom VHF marine radio which gives good radio coverage up and down the east Australian coast. Radio and music is provided by a Majestic AM/FM/DVD player with marine speakers located in both the saloon and cockpit. Antidote is fitted with Sphere 23.6cm HD LED TV with an OceanTalk mobile receiver/tuner connected to twin digital antennas mounted on the mast spreaders.
Navigation Antidote comes with a Raymarine C120 colour chartplotter fitted with Navionics digital charts, mounted on a swivel arm in front of the main helm position, allowing clear viewing from the helm or from within the saloon when required. The Chart Plotter is connected to a GPS antenna mounted between the solar panels. A Raymarine ST60+ Wind and Close Hauled Wind Instrument is located at the port helm position alongside a Raymarine ST6002 SmartPilot Controller for the autopilot. The engine controls and tachometers are also located at the port helm.
A Silva marine magnetic compass is located in front of both port and starboard helm positions and a Raymarine ST60+ Tridata Instrument is located at the starboard helm position. Antidote comes with a complete set of paper Admiralty Charts covering the Queensland coast from the NSW boarder to Lizard Island. Navigation instruments including parallel rule and protractor are kept in the nav table.
Safety equipment Antidote comes with a 406MHz GME Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB), 10 off-shore rated life vests, two life rings and floating light, and a full set of up-to-date signal flares. Antidote also has three 1kg powder-type fire extinguishers and two fire blankets located either side of the galley. Antidote comes with a Aurora ReefRider CL310 RIB as its tender, mounted on davits. The RIB comes with an 8hp Mercury 2-stroke outboard engine, two 20L fuel tanks, dinghy anchor and painter. The tender seats 4-6 people and planes easily with 3 people on board.
Maintenance Antidote has been maintained meticulously since new. All maintenance work has be carried out by fully trained marine professionals to the highest standard. Antidote has been hauled out every year for antifouling (annually) and engine and sail-drive service. All engine and sail drive services have been undertaken on the advice and by trained Raymarine mechanics using only genuine Yanmar spare parts. A professional rigger has inspected and adjusted Antidote’s rig annually and serviced all winches. The tender outboard has been serviced annually by authorised Mercury dealers. Antidote's top surfaces have been fastidiously waxed and polished every 3 months keeping the gelcoat in near-new conditions. All interiors have been routinely cleaned and polished and all upholstery dry cleaned annually.
Cruising Over the past four years Antidote has cruised extensively up and down the east coast of Australia from Sydney in the south to Lizard Island in the north. Each year during the dry season, Antidote has sailed extensively throughout the Whitsundays, visiting its beautiful islands and tropical resorts. From this base, she has also made numerous trips north to Townsville, Cairns and Lizard Island. She has cruised extensively through the Great Barrier Reef, visiting dozens of coral reefs and sand cays, anchoring amongst the reefs for days at a time. Antidote’s shallow draft and stable platform make her an exceptional reef explorer.
During the cyclone season, Antidote has been based in Moreton Bay near Brisbane. During these months, Antidote has sailed the waters of Moreton Bay, the Sandy Strait and Hervey Bay and one year took a trip to Sydney for Christmas and New Year. And between seasons, Antidote cruised between Hervey Bay and the Whitsundays, visiting some of the best kept secrets on the Queensland Coast – the Bunker and Capricorn group of reefs and islands off the Capricorn Coast. These gems include, Lady Elliot Island (where you can snorkel with Manta Rays), Lady Musgrave (where you can anchor in a tranquil reef lagoon and watch turtles nest and hatch), Northwest Island (our largest coral cay bird nesting site) and numerous other reefs and islands to visit, snorkel and explore.
Antidote excels as a coastal cruiser, with the layout, sailing characteristics, and capacity to support comfortable, long-term cruising. Fully fuelled and provisioned, Antidote is capable of cruising for up to a month without needing to re-enter a port.
Antidote 1/6th share for Sale
Antidote is a Seawind 1160 cruising catamaran, launched in 2006. Her solid build construction, quality fit out and finish, combined with fastidious maintenance since launch makes Antidote a proven performer in outstanding condition.
The syndicate of five couples is self-managed. The members of the syndicate are working well together, and among their number are several with valuable skills, such as a diesel mechanic and an auto-electrician. All are experienced sailors.
A 1/6th share entitles a shareholder to eight weeks cruising a year with two weeks for maintenance, usually at BoatWorks on the Gold Coast. The roster is negotiated every year and features both dates and location. In the summer cyclone months, the boat is rostered around Moreton Bay, but from April to December the location moves north as far as Cairns and back. Some trips are circular (starting and ending at the same place) while others feature a delivery expectation (eg from Yeppoon to the Whitsundays).
The costs are shared out on a monthly basis on an as-needs basis. If an expense is due to regular wear-and-tear it is shared equally. If an expense occurs as a result of misadventure, it is the responsibility of the skipper in charge at the time of the incident. There is rarely, if ever, dispute about this.
There can be no guarantee about a shareholder's future maintenance expense, but in the last few years it has averaged between $5,000 and $6,000 per year for a 1/6th shareholder.
She will become available from 16th August 2025.
